From the geographical center of Romania, in Fagaras city rises a towering building with a unique history and a promising future — the most impressive building with the historical and architectural value. A house that any passer-by would have admired for centuries.
It was built in 1900, with a history of over a century behind; an architecture that highlights its beauty. The iconic building we are talking about is Dr. Ioan Giurcă House — former primary doctor of Făgăraș and the first owner of this building that, over the years, had many other names, last known as "The House of Marriages". Its architectural elements belong to the neo- romanesque (neo-Romanian) architectural style. The part that makes it even better ranked is its position across from Făgăraș Fortress — the only Romanian fortress that has never been conquered.
The Process
We are honored to bring the appreciation of yesteryear to the building and the city. The restoration process will be complex but beautiful, and we, as a team, will use all our expertise and experience to preserve the beauty of this historical monument and bring it back to life.
Our goal is to balance the building’s historical value and beauty with the rehabilitation works necessary to ensure its future while bringing our contribution to protecting cultural heritage. The project is composed of several stages, with each of them collaborating with the best specialists in construction rehabilitation.
The project’s first phase has already begun, and the essential step in developing this type of project was to capture the entire building and its surroundings digitally. For this, we requested the services of a company specializing in 3D scanning.
This process uses advanced laser scanners to capture the tridimensional space (measurements) and images with millimetric precision into a cloud of tens of millions of points.

More than 200 scans were taken, capturing every room and detail of the building, and using specialized software, we’ve put all the scans into one usable point cloud.

Using this point cloud as a reference, we created a digital twin of the building by 3D modeling it into 3D specialized software with maximum precision and detail.
"Carrying out such a restoration project is a privilege and great satisfaction, more than a valuable asset. We have a piece of history in front of us, and we will ensure its glorious restoration."

Interview with David Dobrean

Using this point cloud as a reference, I created a digital twin of the building by 3D modeling it with maximum precision and detail. This model will be used for all our steps during this project: structure and architecture, documentation, interior design, architectural visualization, CGI, etcetera.
